Mount Stewart Gardens House Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia

Mount Stewart Gardens and House is an 18th
century grand house and grounds located a few kilometres from Newtownards in Northern
Ireland. The house today is owned by the National Trust, but can trace its history through a number
of prominent families from British social and political life. The
estate covers almost 100 acres, and has expansive and beautiful gardens, which
include many rare plants, a large lake, and a number of monuments, bridges and both
formal and informal sections. The house itself is the very image of a stately
mansion, with grand columns and sturdy stone construction. The interior is surprisingly modern and light, and takes full advantage of the views with
large windows overlooking the grounds. The grounds are ideal for quiet country walks, and visitors can take a picnic or visit the
shop for refreshments.
